Job Description:

JOB PURPOSE: Design and development of diesel engine components (Heads and Blocks) for release to production in a manner to ensure products provide superior performance, durability, quality, and serviceability.

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • In this position you will be closely working with Senior engineers / Engineering specialists and execute Design and development activities of complex castings of engines such as heads and blocks.
  • Should lead engineering activities in projects such as new product introduction, current product improvement, Resourcing etc.
  • Work with customers, Process partners, SMEs to understand the project requirements and execute the projects as per the requirements.
  • Should be able to independently work on engineering activities from concept to production in component / system development projects. Liaise with cross functional teams as required.
  • Independently work on engineering activities in implementing engineering solutions in Continuous Product Improvement (CPI) projects. (Includes liaising with manufacturing and assembly facilities)
  • Manage multiple projects and communicate results (Achievement towards cost / quality / timeline targets) to customers, suppliers, team members and other cross functional teams as required in various forums.

Educational Requirement

  • BE Mechanical engineering with 8 or more years of relevant experience in engine industry (or)
  • ME / MTech Mechanical engineering (specialization in IC engines / engineering design / thermal engineering) with 6+ years of relevant experience in engine industry (ideal candidate)

Skill Sets/Competencies (Must have)

  • Strong knowledge of core engine components mainly Heads and Blocks and fundamental knowledge about diesel engine components and systems.
  • Experience of New Product Introduction (NPI) (Concept to Production) and Value analysis / Value engineering techniques.
  • Able to design components as per reliability / durability requirements and with manufacturing feasibility.
  • Strong knowledge of modelling / analysis tools, GD & T, TSU as required.
  • Knowledge on Data extraction, regression analysis and problem solving.
  • Excellent Project Management, verbal / written communication, and interpersonal skills.

TOP CANDIDATES will have:

  • Advanced degree from reputed institution.
  • 5+ years of Core engine component design and development by working with global and regional teams.
  • Experience in working with global customers / suppliers for core engine component development.
  • Good knowledge of cross functional roles in domains such as Manufacturing, Purchasing, Quality related to diesel engine domain.
